I remember watching this with dad when I was little and man was it awesome. There was some terrible movie that came out a couple of years ago with Sly Stallone that claimed to be the first movie shot with camera's mounted to the actual race cars. Clearly those people had never heard of Grand Prix.

Yeah, and I bet Sly didn't actually drive the cars like Garner did.

I love everything about this movie. Far, far ahead of its time both in production and international casting and shooting. You are right though, the story is often quite weak but the driving sequences are outstanding.
