See now, I actually really liked this series. I didn't watch it on TV but I bought the DVDs. Generally, I think that Kevin Smith is an overrated, no talent hack. But his failings as both a writer of dialogue that sounds like real people, and his total ineptitude at directing living human actors, is ironically perfect for animation. When cartoon characters start spouting out hyperbolic bullshit that sounds like someone reading from what they found in the trash can after a weekend "How To Be A Screenwriter" class at the Learning Annex, no one cares. And the fact that the guys who play Dante and Randall are perhaps that worst actors ever this side of pornography simply does not matter when you can't see their stiff and lifeless performances. Also the episode where they go all anime at the end is pure genius. "Who is driving? Bear is driving!?! How can that be?"
